Well, we made it American Idol fans. We’ve officially arrived at the single digits for Season 13! Last week, we watched as the country said goodbye to MK Nobilette after she failed to overcome stage fright and deliver superstar performances. It was a hard hit, that’s for sure — not just because MK was talented, but because she made history as the show’s first openly gay contestant ever.

While it was tough to see her go, the show must go on! Tonight (March 26), the remaining 9 contenders will perform songs to the theme of “I’m With the Band.” They’ve been tasked with taking on tunes by rock royalty, as the live Idol band plays in the background.

Next to take the stage is Jessica Meuse, who — despite having some ups and downs throughout the season — has still managed to gain a loyal fan following. Of course, she wants to impress the judges nonetheless, so she decides to take on “Rhiannon” by Fleetwood Mac. It’s certainly a smart and strategic move, given that the judges compared her to Stevie Nicks back in her first audition. Was it enough to wow the judges for the first time in weeks?

“I thought you did a nice job,” says Harry. “This might have been my favorite performance that you’ve done. I felt like for the first time, I started to see a slightly different side of you. It felt focused and like you were really thinking about what the song means to you. I was hoping we’d see that. I’m proud of you.”

Do you think Jessica deserves to make it to the Top 8? Sound off in the comments!
